CONNIE MERRITT
Labor Support Specialist (UCSD) and a Certified Birth Doula, (DONA) . She is Certified in Childbirth Education, through the University of California, San Diego and also through Lamaze International, the world renowned leader in Childbirth Education. Through the International Association of Infant Massage, Connie has earned her Infant Massage Instructor Certification.
In 1997, at her grandson’s birth a nurse suggested Connie become a doula. Since then, she has dedicated herself to helping new families in every aspect of having a baby: from childbirth classes and professional labor assistance to postpartum breastfeeding support and skillful, caring infant massage. She began receiving her professional credentials in 1998 and has attended over 300 births. Connie has been involved in birth since 1998.
Connie lives in San Diego California, where she was born.
Connie completed the 3 year program at Nizhoni Institute of Midwifery in 2012. She then spent three years as an Intern Midwife gaining experience and moving towards her NARM (North American Registry of Midwives) exam. Connie took and passed the NARM early 2015 and obtained her license from the Medical Board of California.
